Billy Mays Passes On

People are still grieving for the death of their idol Michael Jackson, and now another known TV icon, product endorser Billy Mays has died yesterday, Sunday morning.
Since I got here in the US Billy Mays always caught my attention in every product he endorsed such as oxi clean, kaboom and many more. Joe told me how popular this person was, and because of his credibility and effectiveness lots of people buy his product and that includes us. We heard from the news last night, that Billy Mays was originally from Pittsburgh. He grew up in McKees Rocks and got his start selling products on the Atlantic City boardwalk before becoming the face and voice of numerous commercials and infomercials. Our condolences to the family of Billy Mays and Michael Jackson.
We wanna say our condolences to the family of our very dear friend Rose, his brother died in a motorcycle accident. Lets say our prayer for these people who just passed away. May they all rest in peace.

X-mas in June

Last weekend when we went to slippery rock I was surprised that Jake took a long nap again at his Granmas rocking chair without me singing him or rocking him. My mother-in-law noticed that Jake likes music, so she played this instrumental Christmas song by Oscar Peterson. Jake started dancing and when he got tired he sat down at his grandmas rocking chair and then Voila!....a snoring buckaroo.

Moving Mania

Next week we will start with our crazy moving mania. I have been packing some of our stuff little by little. It will be a very busy week for us and no blogging since our internet connection will be cut off and transfer to the new place on thursday. I hope they can hook it up right away. Moving is a pain in the neck, aside from packing, you have to take care a lot of things such as change of address. This morning we got up early to go to the bank to change our address and after that went to the post office for the same thing. Ohh geez the life of moving, this is reality. I wish soon we can buy our own house so that we don't have to move nor rent an apartment or house.

Pinay at the Mall

Since I got here, I never meet or came accross any filipino, Well there was one time that I heard two guys at my back talking tagalog but I never got the chance to look back and say hi to them and besides they were both busy talking to noticed me infront of them. When we were at the Mall last sunday, we went to different shop and store to look for shorts for hubby for father's day gift. We also checked some stuff at Macy's and met one friendly filipina there. Her name is Rosalina Cortese, she is very friendly. We talked for a while exchanging hi's and hello's. I forgot to take pictures of us, coz I was overwhelmed and got excited and she was working, so I don't want her to get in trouble chit chatting with me while working, maybe next time we go to the mall. She also invited us to her thanksgiving party this September. For the first time I met and found a pinay friend here in Pittsburgh.

Travel Tips

Here are some picture that me and Jake had from the last time we went to vegas. Jake was 10 1/2 months old then. He was a good sport getting up early like 4:00 in the morning, coz we had to leave early going to the airport.

.....taken at the Pittsburgh airport, we already checked in all our stuff except for the stroller and diaper bag and his food.

...@ the plane my lil guy has been so good, so one of the flight attendant gave him this cup to play so that he won't get bored.

It is not easy to travel with baby or toddler around. Packing things is already a hassles, how much more when you travel by plane or by car. I like to travel, but having a baby now, need to consider lots of things. This is been a true experience for me, I once travel just by myself when I first got here in the US, and it was so frustrating for me cause it was my first time and I was by myself, that was a frustration base on paying much much more attention and keeping a good focus, and I would say, Hey! I made it, and it wasn’t that bad for a first time and it was an international trip.
Now, it was more different and more stressful, cause I travelled with my son who’s only 10 1/2 months old and this was only a domestic flight plus the weather wasn't that good. So i have some guidelines and its base on experience, it will save a lot of time and energy for you. When you are traveling with child:
1. Make sure all the documents you need for your self and your child is in easy access and organized. (a). for you, ticket and ID. (b). for your child, Birth certificate.
2. Check in most of your stuff, just bring the stroller, your purse and diaper bag, the lighter the better.
3. Go to the airport few hours before your flight cause sometimes, going through security is going to take a long time. This way you won’t be rushing and you can relax a little bit because you have plenty of time on your hand.
I really learn a lot on my last travel, I was relax, my child was amazingly a good boy. To avoid travel frustrations specially if your child’s with you, get everything ready and handy and make a time plan. My son jake and I did really good.

Work and Leisure in the Summer

During the nine month school year, I am so busy, I barely have time to go to the bathroom. Teaching my normal university load, with an extra class (for extra money of course), and two Saturday classes, and an online class, I simply have no time for being Mr. Nice Guy. But, now we are in the middle of the summer term, and it is very different. I only teach one class, and I have plenty of time to rest, plan for the fall term, and spend quality time (as Mr. Nice Guy of course) with my family. I'm grateful that there is a summer class for me to teach, but I wouldn't want to teach more than one. I go into the office in the morning Monday through Thursday, and I teach from 9:30 am until noon. Then I go home. It's that simple. There are only 10 students in the class, so class management is a breeze, and I don't collect homework in the summer term, so there is no homework to grade. I give a short quiz at the end of each week, and at the end of the sixth week, they take the final. Life is good! Now I have time to watch basketball on television, and I have time to play with my son more. I'll let you know when the fall term starts and I become a busy beaver again.

Grilling out

I love the taste of grilled hamburgers. Last week we went over to a friend’s house, and we grilled hamburgers in the backyard. Not too many meals compare to that fresh grilled taste of the meat with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions on top. We’re moving into a house soon, and it has a really nice and big backyard. We will most certainly be doing a lot of grilling out this summer. In addition to hamburgers, I like grilled ham, fish, and of course chicken. I like grilling out for other reasons too. Anytime that the weather is good enough for grilling out, people seem to be in a better mood, and if you have friends over for the cookout, everyone is quite festive, and everyone has a really good time. I’m looking forward to this summer as my husband has promised that there will be an abundance of grill cooked food.
