Mellow Yellow Monday - Philippine Money
My entry for this week MYM is the philippine money that I save when I got here. It has one 500 pesos bill, three 5 pesos, and 25 cents coins. The 500 peso bills was the late Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino. He was a leading opponent of the rule of President Ferdinand Marcos. His opposition ended in August 1983 when, after living in exile in the United States for three years, he returned to Manila and was gunned down at the airport. His death precipitated massive demonstrations against President Marcos. Read more. Right now his, son Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III is the newly elected president of the Philippines.
