Advice from his Mom

Last week Mary called and asked to pay her a visit this weekend because she had some important things to discuss. So we went there last Saturday and find out what it was. She wanted to talk to Joe about his health. After that episode during our trip to Chicago she was worried of her son's health. She advised him to take it easy on his temper, monitor his diet and do some exercise. I was glad that Mary advised him to do all this important things because sometimes her son is very stubborn to take advices from me. She just want to warn Joe of some possibilities and be aware of it that is why she advised him to take care of his health since his family are all depending on him. That was really a relieved on my part though and am really hoping hubby will take those seriously.

That weekend when we went for a short walk, we stopped by at the playground and had Jake play for a while. And that night after the short walk I started feeling the contractions, maybe the walk triggered the baby to come out early instead of waiting on the 13th of August which was the due date. It helped though coz it was kind of heavy carry those big tummy. Happy Monday to all hope it's not manic.

The teacher repeated the process, touching another drop of the leakage to her tongue. "Is it champagne?" she asked. "No," the boy replied. The teacher then said, "I give up, what is it?" The boy replied, "A puppy!"

Tyler was excited about his first day at school. So excited in fact, that only a few minutes after class started, he realized that he desperately needed to go to the bathroom. So, Tyler raised his hand politely to ask if he could be excused. Of course, the teacher said yes, but asked Tyler to be quick. Five minutes later Tyler returned, looking more desperate and embarrassed. "I can't find it," he admitted. The teacher sat Tyler down and drew him a little diagram to where he should go and asked him if he will be able to find it now. Tyler looked at the diagram, said "yes" and goes on his way. Well, five minutes later he returned to the class room and says to the teacher, "I can't find it." Frustrated, the teacher asked Tommy, a boy who has been at the school for a while, to help him find the bathroom. So, Tommy and Tyler go together and five minutes later they both return r and sit down at their seats. The teacher asks Tommy, "Well, did you find it?" Tommy is quick with his reply, "Oh sure, he just had his boxer shorts on backwards.

Toyota Recalls 2.3M US Vehicles

Automaker Recalled 4.2M Cars For Different Pedal Problem In 2009.

Toyota is recalling 2.3 million U.S. vehicles to correct sticking accelerator pedals, the latest in a string of quality problems that have bedeviled the Japanese automaker.

The recall includes the 2009-2010 RAV4, the 2009-2010 Corolla, the 2009-2010 Matrix, the 2005-2010 Avalon, the 2007-2010 Camry, the 2010 Highlander, the 2007-2010 Tundra and the 2008-2010 Sequioia.

Toyota Motor Corp. spokesman Brian Lyons said the recall is due to the vehicles' pedal mechanism becoming worn and, in some cases, stuck.

The recall comes just months after Toyota issued a larger 4.2 million-vehicle recall because of pedals getting stuck due to insecure floor mats.

Archaeologists have unearthed a 2,000-year-old temple that may have been dedicated to the ancient Egyptian cat goddess. The ruins of the Ptolemaic-era temple were discovered by Egyptian archaeologists in the heart of the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria, founded by Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C. This would indicate that the worship of the ancient Egyptian cat-goddess continued during the later, Greek-influenced, Ptolemaic period. The temple was found in the Kom el-Dekkah neighborhood near the city's main train station and home to a Roman-era amphitheater and well preserved mosaics.

It was fun but I prefer traveling by plane because it will take to your destination quicker. The last time I traveled by plane was when my son and I went to Vegas and that was last year. TCP - Girl Power

Charlie's Angel would be the perfect movie that show girl power. Three women, detectives with a mysterious boss, retrieve stolen voice-ID software, using martial arts, tech skills, and sex appeal is indeed a total women impowerment hehehe. I like this movie especially Lucy Liu, she is very good. The film is based on the television series of the same name from the late 1970s, which was adapted by screenwriters Ryan Rowe, Ed Solomon, and John August. The film stars Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu as three women working for a private investigation agency.

Charlie's Angels is a loose sequel of the original series. John Forsythe from the original series returned as Charlie's voice. The film was followed with the 2003 sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

Here is the PLOT
Natalie (Cameron Diaz), Dylan (Drew Barrymore), and Alex (Lucy Liu) are three talented women currently at the employ of the unseen "Charlie" (voice of John Forsythe), who gives them cases to investigate via a speaker in his offices, and backing them with support for disguises and equipment; Charlie is assisted by Bosley (Bill Murray), who helps the women directly when needed. They are assigned the case of the kidnapping of Eric Knox (Sam Rockwell), a programmer and head of Knox Enterprises, supposedly by a company called Redstar for his voice tracking and identification system. The three women infiltrate a party held by Redstar's owner, Roger Corwin (Tim Curry), and spot a thin man that was seen on the surveillance videos during Knox' kidnapping. They give chase, and eventually corner and fight the thin man, but he runs off; when the women follow, they discover Knox.

After reuniting Knox with his partner Vivian Wood (Kelly Lynch), Knox implores them to help understand what Redstar would do with his software. The three manage to infiltrate Redstar's secure computer system and plant a device to allow them to explore the Redstar mainframe at their leisure. They leave the laptop with Bosley and consider the mission successful. The group relaxes for the night, with Dylan taking up an offer to spend the night with Knox. However, Dylan discovers that Knox had planned the events all along with help from the Thin Man (Crispin Glover) and Vivian; by gaining access to Redstar's server, he is able to seek out the location of any voice that can be detected on it. Knox shoots at Dylan, believing to have killed her, though Dylan is able to escape unharmed. When she regroups with Natalie and Alex, she finds they have also been attacked but each escaped, that Corwin has been murdered, and that Charlie's offices have been blown up. They learn from a radio transmitter implanted in Bosley's teeth that he is unharmed, captured by Vivian before the explosion, and are able to use information to target his whereabouts.

The women, with help from Dylan's current boyfriend "The Chad" (Tom Green), are able to approach the abandoned lighthouse that Knox is holding Bosley in. They discover that Knox is planning on using the software and the Redstar server to physically locate Charlie when he next attempts to contact Bosley, as he believes Charlie was responsible for his father's death in the Vietnam War. While they are able to defeat Vivian and the Thin Man and rescue Bosley before Knox blows up the lighthouse, they are too late to stop him taking off in a helicopter armed with a missile to home in on Charlie's location. The women manage to board the chopper and reprogram the missile, sending it back to blow up the helicopter and kill Knox while they land safely in the ocean. Seeing the opportunity to finally meet their benefactor, the women enter the house Knox has targeted to find Charlie has already left, though remotely congratulates them on a job well done. The women and Bosley are treated by Charlie to a vacation getaway, where Charlie speaks to the Angels by telephone. Though unseen by most of the group, Dylan suspects that she sees Charlie nearby talking into a cell phone.

Sinulog in Cebu City

Time flies so fast, I didn’t realize I’ve been missing a lot of celebration back in my hometown. One of them is the Sinulog, the fiest in honor of senyor Sto. Nino. I used to go in a procession, light a candle, say a prayer and offer a dance. In 9 days of celebration, group of people from different establishmentsand companys or schools offer their own prayer through dancing and shouting PIT SENYOR! As one of the member of teachers dance troop in the school i was working before, we always had this dance halad (dance offering) at the fuente osmena and a dance prayer at the basilica church pilgrimage area. I heard from my friend there, that they have been practicing for the sinulog sa kabataan dance. This week is the sinulog festival celebration.The Sinulog festival is one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines. The main festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the child Jesus, who used to be the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu (since in the Catholic faith Jesus is not a saint, but God). It is essentially a dance ritual which remembers the Filipino people’s pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity. The word Sinulog comes from the Cebuano adverb sulog which is “like water current movement,” which describes the forward-backward movement of the Sinulog dance.


Here is a tidbits of history how it arrived in cebu.

Historical accounts say that before Portuguese navigator came to Cebu on April 7, 1521 to plant the cross on its shore and claim the country for the King of Spain, Sinulog was already danced by the natives in honor of their wooden idols and anitos. Then Magellan came and introduced Christianity. He gave the Sto. Nino (image of the Child Jesus) as baptismal gift to Hara Amihan, wife of Cubu’s Rajah Humabon who was later named Queen Juana. At that time, not only the rulers were baptized but also about 800 of their subjects. Unfortunately however, shortly after the conversation, Magellan went into reckless adventure by fighting the reigning ruler of Mactan, Rajah Lapu-lapu, with only a handful of men. He died in the encounter. That was last April 27, 1521.
From then on, the celebration of sinulog become a tradition to all of us who believed in the miracle of the Senyor Sto. NiÑo. As the year passed a lot of toursist go there to witness the said celebration.
Sinulog is a nine-day fiesta celebration in honor of Sto. Nino. The celebration entails two major activities: the religious procession on a Saturday and the grand street parade the following day.

5. The truth is I'm not pretty but beautiful only waaaa joke only.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to finish writing the opps, tomorrow my plans include grocery shopping and Sunday, I want to go to West Virginia...hopefully!

Chinese New Year

Introduction

Chinese New Year falls on the first day of the lunar calendar, the month after the end of Winter (冬至). Due to the different number of days per month of the two calendars, Chinese New Year falls on a different date (on the solar calendar) each year. The Chinese celebrate the New Year for a total of 15 days.

Originally, the Lunar New Year was called 春节, or Spring Festival. It symbolized a time of renewed fertility of the earth for famers, as spring was now in place of winter. This occassion also marks a fresh start in life, to hope for a happy and prosperous new year.

Clearing of Debts

To start off the new year good, old debts are often cleared before Lunar New Year, to avoid shame and misfortune. Lunar New Year's Eve is only one of the three Chinese festivals set aside for such debts to be cleared (the other two being Dragon Boat Festival 端午节and Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋节). Conventionally, creditors could no longer demand payment of a debt by Lunar New Year's Day.

Spring Cleaning

Spring-cleaning is held before New Year's Day, to sweep away all the misfortune. This way, the New Year is welcomed with a clean start. On the other hand, to sweep on the First New Year's Day to the Sixth New Year's Day, is to sweep away good fortune. Hence, dust must be swept inwards from the outside, and everything must look new or clean for fortune to smile on the family. Decorations are also put up, such as the character fu (chinese for fortune) hung upside down, so that it will form fu dao “ 福倒 ” (fortune upside down), a pun for fu dao “ 福到 ” (fortune arrives).

Red Packets

The best part of Chinese New Year for the children is to receive traditional gifts of money, wrapped up in a red packet called hong bao 红包, from their parents and elderly married persons. The amount in the packet should be an even number, to be lucky and auspicious. Children are expected to accept red packets graciously, with customary good wishes. It is bad manners to open red packets in the presence of others.

According to ancient belief, the first day of the new year was the birthday of chickens; the second day, dogs; the third day, pigs; the fourth day, sheep; the fifth day, cows; the sixth day, horses; the seventh day, humans; and the eighth day, grains. It them became customary for Chinese to celebrate an additional birthday: the seventh day of the new year, called ren ri 人日.

Now.....Father and son sharing Dr. Pepper. They upgraded their soda from Coke to Dr. Pepper with some pritzels. They don't mind eating pretzels all day.


They still drink coke but I usually finished the coke before hubby will have his hand on it.

Pennies may be worth up to $1,000

Save your pennies! Coins in circulation may be worth up to $1,000, says expert

This 1908-S Indian head cent, worth $250, was spent at a newsstand in 2006 by Scott Travers. In order to be worth a couple of hundred dollars, the coin must display the letter 'S' on the reverse.

This well-worn 1914-D Lincoln head cent is worth $300. In order to command this value, however, there must be the letter 'D' underneath the date of 1914.

See a penny, pick it up, it may be worth a thousand bucks.

Noted coin dealer Scott Travers announced three years ago he had released three rare and valuable pennies into circulation, but none of the coins has been reported found.

"Not only does it appear that these three pennies are out there waiting for someone to cash them in for a pretty penny, there are lots of others that are just like them that are out there," said Travers, author of the book "One-Minute Coin Expert."

In a bid to encourage a new generation of coin collectors, Travers parted with the three one-cent coins in April 2006.

He put the first - a 1914-D Lincoln cent valued at $300 - toward a pretzel at a vendor outside the Nasdaq offices at 4 Times Square.

Days later, Travers spent a 1909-S V.D.B. Lincoln cent valued at $1,000 on a bottle of water he purchased at a different vendor in Times Square. He then walked a block to a newsstand and dispensed a 1908-S Indian Head cent worth $250.

In the weeks after his high-profile stunt, seven people came forward saying they found the $1,000 coin Travers gave up.

"The coins were real, but none of them was mine," Travers said.

The bonanza, Travers said, demonstrated an important point: There are countless coins worth big money that are just waiting to be discovered on sidewalks and streetcorners, and in pants pockets and piggy banks.

"There really are big dollars to be made in small coins," Travers said. "With these hard times, people are really nickel-and-diming it and to be able to make a pretty penny from one that doesn't look so pretty is an extraordinary accomplishment."

It's great to be back at Tuesday Couch Potatoes hosted by Kikamz. This week movie feature is about Blockbuster movies we have seen on theater or TV. I have seen quite a few movie that hits big time and one of those is the Slumdog Millionaire. I know it's kind of old movie from 2008 but what can I say I like this movie. The latest blockbuster movie that ring in the web is the Avatar. I heard it is really good but haven't seen this one yet and hoping to watch this on TV or tape perhaps soon.

Mellow Yellow Monday- Spring Fun

Who wants Spring? I do!!! Here I go again complaining about the winter. Who doesn't? It sucks right? We can't go anywhere, it's expessive as we have to pay higher bills because of the space heater and but bunches of salt for the side walks plus because of the freezing weather and snow our car broke down.
