Never ending chores

I'm a stay at home mom to two active toddlers. Every day their job is to trash around the place and scattered their toys everywhere. And my job is to follow every bit of it and put them away. Even if I already taught my son to clean after his toy the lil girl is the one pulling that toys anyway. Aside from cleaning after their crap I also need to keep the place clean. I don't clean everyday but i see to it that the other rooms of the house is clean. I vacuum the carpet once a week, clean the kids bedroom and clean the toilet including brushing the glass tile every two weeks to keep it shiny. Every day I am doing the same chores and keeping my kids clean. My life as a stay at home mom and wife have a never ending chores and routine which sometime sickens me.

America's Meanest Airlines

We went to New York City last summer and flew with US Airways as the only flight where we could get a seat next to each other. We experienced rude passenger who didn't wanna sit next to us because of our little ones who happened to be the perfect little angel while that rude passenger found a seat next to a crying baby. Anyhow, traveling with kids is difficult already then we had to go to the next floor because thats where the US airways check in was. Then we paid additional $25 for the car seat. When I went to Vegas flying with Southwest airlines which was free because i got a reserve ticket from my BIL and sister i didn't pay for the car seat. It doesn't surprise me to read this news from U.S News posted by By Hamooda Shami which put US Airway on top as one of the meanest airlines and rude flight attendants.

Based on the Airline Quality Rating (AQR) Report, which covers 18 domestic carriers, here is a list of the airlines that could stand to do the most work on making their customers happy. The report's conclusions are based on surveys of airline industry experts, with positive and negative values assigned to different elements in airline quality. Several common complaint areas were factored in -- including on-time arrival, mishandled baggage, delays and involuntary denied boardings -- the scores of which were then calculated to produce an overall quality score.

Worst Major Airlines

5. US Airways

2009 AQR Score: -1.19

While US Airways improved five percent in passenger satisfaction according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index, they were one of three airlines cited as having the rudest flight attendants and serving the worst food, in a survey conducted by SeatGuru last year. Additionally, US Airways received a below-average score in the J.D. Power 2010 North America Airline Satisfaction Study.

Domestic Baggage Fees:

1st Bag: $25
2nd Bag: $35 3rd Bag: $100
Overweight Bags: $50 Extra (51 - 70 lbs) $100 Extra (71 - 100 lbs)
Oversized Bags: $100 Extra (larger than 62")

4. American Airlines

2009 AQR Score: -1.25

American Airlines has an Airline Quality Rating (AQR) of -1.25 -- which isn't awful, but where its reputation takes the hardest hit is with its regional airline, American Eagle (more on it later).

This year AA has had frequent incidents of mishandled baggage with an average of 4.07 reports per 1,000 passengers, according to the Air Travel Consumer Reports (this is the worst rating among the major airlines in the study). SeatGuru's survey named American Airlines as one of the three airlines that have the rudest flight attendants and the worst food.

Domestic Baggage Fees:
1st Bag: $25
2nd Bag: $35
3rd Bag: $100
Overweight Bags: $50 (51 - 70 lbs) $100 (71 - 100 lbs)
Oversized Bags: $150 (larger than 62")

3. Alaska Airlines

2009 AQR Score: -1.39

Alaska Airlines has an Airline Quality Rating (AQR) of -1.39, which can be partially attributed to the airline's high number of mishandled baggage reports. According to Air Travel Consumer Reports, the airline averaged 3.98 incidents per 1,000 passengers last year. However, Alaska Airlines did a stellar job when it came to delays, with 88 percent of its flights having on-time arrivals (in the 12-month period ending August 2010).

Domestic Baggage Fees:
1st Bag: $20
2nd Bag: $20
3rd Bag: $20
Overweight Bags: $50 (51 - 100 lbs)
Oversized Bags: $50 (63 - 80") $75 (81 - 115")

2. United Airlines

2009 AQR Score: -1.43

Now that the merger with Continental Airlines is official, United can turn its attention to improving customer service. United received a score of "about average" in the J.D. Power 2010 North America Airline Satisfaction Study but it placed last in passenger satisfaction in the American Customer Satisfaction Index. According to the SeatGuru survey, United joins American Airlines and US Airways as one of the three worst airlines for meals and rude flight attendants. In addition, the Air Travel Consumer Reports places this airline second in consumer complaints (behind Delta), averaging 1.82 per 100,000 enplanements in 2010.

Domestic Baggage Fees:
v1st Bag: $25
2nd Bag: $35
3rd Bag: $100
Overweight Bags: $100 (51 - 100 lbs)
Oversized Bags: $100 (larger than 62")

1. Delta

2009 AQR Score: -1.73

Delta had the worst AQR among major airlines with a -1.73, and a couple of its regional airlines did even worse (see Comair and Atlantic Southeast below). It also had the largest drop in passenger satisfaction in the American Customer Satisfaction Index. According to the Air Travel Consumer Reports, Delta was number one in delays for major airlines (78 percent of flights arriving on time in the 12-month period ending August 2010) and first in consumer complaints (averaging 2.23 per 100,000 enplanements in 2010). Also, make sure to note Delta's baggage fees below, as they can get quite painful for those hauling heavy and/or large cargo.

Domestic Baggage Fees:
1st Bag: $25 ($23 if checked online)
2nd Bag: $35 ($32 if checked online)
3rd Bag: $125
Overweight Bags: $90 (51 - 70 lbs) $175 (71 - 100 lbs)
Oversized Bags: $175 (larger than 63 - 80") $300 (larger than 81 - 115")

Worst Regional Airlines
4. SkyWest
3. Comair
2. Atlantic Southeast
1. American Eagle

TCP - Julie & Julia

This week edition of Tuesday couch Potatoes hosted by Kikamz, couchers will features movie with Life's Gastronomic Pleasures as theme. My pick would be this comedy/drama movie Julie & Julia. The film contrasts the life of The French Chef Julia Child in the early years of her culinary career with the life of young New Yorker Julie Powell, who aspires to cook all 524 recipes in Child's cookbook in 365 days, a challenge she described on her popular blog that would make her a published author. Below is the synopsis I got from different source online and movie trailer form YouTube.

Synopsis: A frustrated temp secretary (Amy Adams) embarks on a year-long culinary quest to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. She chronicles her trials and tribulations in a blog that catches on with the food crowd. The film also covers the years Julia Child (Meryl Streep) and her husband Paul (Stanley Tucci) spent in Paris during the 1940s and 1950s, when he was a foreign diplomat who was eventually investigated by Sen. Joseph McCarthy for alleged communist ties.

Cast: Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Stanley Tucci, Chris Messina, Linda Emond
Director: Nora Ephron
Genre: Drama, Comedy

Family Night: Entertainment Provided By the DVR

Guest post from: Constance Rodgers

It is really quite difficult to get everyone's schedule to flow in a way that enables everyone to have free time at the same time. Designating one evening a week, more if possible, is a great way to bring the family together for leisure activity. Satellite tv from www.directstartv.com offers numerous programming options but invariably some of the family favorites will be on on the evenings when everyone is busy. The DVR allows us to record those favorite movies or programs to enjoy on family night. Not everyone likes the same type of programs. By recording everyone's favorite show, there will be a time when their favorite program will be the "featured program" of family night. This teaches everyone respect for others as they wait for their special program to be featured.

A big bowl of popcorn, some cups of hot cocoa, and some great family movies recorded on the DVR is a budget friendly way to spend a chilly winter evening or snowy weekend. And on those dreaded sick days when a cold or flu disrupts the joy of feeling well, the DVR is a lifesaver. When watching recorded programs, it doesn't mater if I doze off from the affect of cold medicine. Whenever I'm ready to focus on the tv again I can rewind, push play, and never miss a thing.

Husband's Birthday Gift

I mentioned in my post before that I am thinking of giving my husband a personalized birthday gift and cash. But I change my pretty mind so, instead of cash I'll look for jacket that he can wear to work or find something at men's clothing section that suits his preferences. The last time I bought him online a pair of working shirt he didn't like that much because there was no pocket and too big for him. When we went to the Outlet Mall last Sunday I found a nice suit in one of the boutique in there but my cash was not enough to buy it. I would still prefer to shop for birthday gift online as it is convenient for me. I would hope the husband will like the birthday gift this time.

Lake Erie, PA

We live in Pennsylvania but we never been to Erie yet. I think going to this place is like three hours drive as to what my husband told me. Lake View is the perfect get-away for rejuvenation or celebration. You can find peace, serenity and escape from the busy city life. It is also a perfect place for fishing. Lake Erie or "Walleye Capital of the World" as it is known for the many walleye that are caught each year. Lots of things you can do and discover while exploring the place.

Erie is an industrial city on the shore of Lake Erie in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Erie is in proximity to Cleveland, Ohio; Buffalo, New York; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Erie is known as the Flagship City because of the presence of Oliver Hazard Perry's flagship Niagara. The city has also been called the Gem City because of the "sparkling" lake. Lake Erie Watershed is a major drainage catchment in northwestern Pennsylvania, consisting of lands with direct runoff and sub-watersheds with waterways that flow into Lake Erie and Presque Isle Bay from Crawford and Erie counties, as well as from New York. The watershed is part of the Lake Erie Basin.

Magid Work Gloves

I was a teacher in public school for seven years. I was assigned in the mountain school for two years. Public school in the Philippines is quite different here in the US. Over there the kids have to do many yard works, gardening, agriculture and more. As a teacher, it's my job to guide them so I had to lead while supervising the kids. I got blisters from pulling the weeds and cultivating the soil. My students in the mountain school were used to work in their farms without using gloves or hand protection. They do not care if they get blisters and calluses. Hence, using gloves is not our thing so we do gardening with our bare hands. We clean the weeds and grasses by hand without any gloves on.

Now I know the importance of work gloves and how useful it is in protecting our hands from getting hurt. One time I offered to help my MIL with her yard. Good thing she has a spare gloves for me that is made of leather. I didn't get a blister and working with gloves make the job done in no time. Magid Glove & Safety has a work glove for every job. It's Retro Movies, would be the theme for this week's TCP edition. Lots of movies back in the 80's that was totally hit. Hence, they may look and sound gay from acting to the effects but it was the coolest back then. Tom Cruise was so cool in the 80s and of course so was this movie. Top Gun is my pick for Retro Movies. The macho students of an elite US Flying school for advanced fighter pilots compete to be best in the class, and one romances the teacher.

Top Gun is a 1986 American action film directed by Tony Scott under Paramount Pictures company and was inspired by the article "Top Guns" written by Ehud Yonay for California Magazine. View the full synopsis of the movie or watch the full trailer and fall in love with young Tom Cruise.

The film stars Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, and Tom Skerritt. Cruise plays Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a young Naval aviator aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. He and his backseater, Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) Lt. j.g. Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Edwards), are given the chance to train at the Navy's Fighter Weapons School. The film depicts Maverick's progress through the training, his romance with a female instructor, and his overcoming a crisis of confidence following a fatal training accident.

Copy of the Knot Book

When Joe was still in graduate school he wrote a thesis about knots. It was an excellent thesis as he showed me few copies of it when I was still in the Philippines. Then, last year his professor contacted him that his thesis was included in the Journal of Knot Theory and It's Ramifications which was publish in World Scientific publishing Company. We got a copy of the chapter Error Analysis of the Minimum Distance Energy of A Diagonal Knot and the Mobius Energy of an Approximating Curve. It was just a copy not the hard bound book of it. So, this morning when we were at Micheal's I tried to look for Velo binding but since we only have few minutes to look around the store I grabbed different binder instead. To those who doesn't know the term well, according to the Dictionary; Velo binding is a type of document fastener using a narrow strip of plastic on the front and back and attached with thin plastic pegs through the pages; also called velobind.. I need a binder to keep this paper look like a book.

Driver's Manual

My MIL is so concern about my situation here as she knows that i am totally a stranger in this place. She knows the life here in the US which is quite different with the lifestyle where I came from. She wants me to learn how to drive as the kids is getting bigger and perhaps will start school in 3 years time. She's been asking my husband to teach me how to drive and she will watch the kids. The husband just gave her a nod. She even got me a driver's manual for me to read. This kind of thing is supposed to be my husband's responsibility but I sensed that he is not really excited for me to learn things around here. That is why I don't like to ask things from my husband because i hate disappointment and rejection. I haven't read the whole manual yet because i was thinking what's the use of reading it if I am not driving or hands on driving lesson.

I have been working since I graduated college. When I got the job that is related to my profession I thought to myself before that I would stay single for the rest of my life. Marriage didn't occur to me until I felt the emptiness inside and every thing is seemed boring to me. I got hitched at thirty years old and got pregnant right away. I love being a mom to my two adorable children but never dreamed to be a stay at home mom. I want to work and hope to find a job like management jobs perhaps. For now it's hard for me to get a job because my kids still little and it's a waste of money to pay a nanny to watch my kids. I need a job and I wish I could find one that offers night shift schedule. In this way I could work at night and my husband can watch the kids.
