House Hunting

Countless of times I have mentioned in the previous post how we planned to buy a our own abode in the country in two to three years from now. As usual plan is just a plan until it will be realized. I also mentioned before that I only believed that the trip to the Philippines will come true if I see proof. Well, everything we planned have changed and did not fall into places the way we wanted. The trip have postponed and I do not know when it will be push through. But on the lighter side, we started looking for houses. We found one that we like but it's not final yet. We will still on the hunt for a house that is suitable for family of four. This week we already arrange a meeting with our agent to show us couple of houses perhaps.

Camera Critters and SOOC

My first image capture using the Sony point and shoot digicam I just bought last month. It was 7x zoom and 14.1 megapixel. I edited it through picasa. Amazing! One tine creature it came out a gigantic spider.

Last Tuesday we had rain and hail pouring. I snapped my camera and took a picture of the hails so clear as they drop down the ground. My entry for SOOC. I did not edit this photo, it's straight from my camera.

Summer Getaway

Now that it’s spring, I am looking forward to our family vacation. We usually go out for picnics but maybe this year, we can take a retreat for a couple of days.

I was thinking maybe we can go out of town, like a trip to Arizona and spend a couple of days there. We can do camping activities and stay in cabins. I would love to experience staying in a cabin, and I’m sure it will be a wonderful experience for my kids too. An experience of spending days surrounded by natural resources like log beds and real wood for the fireplace, and greens and trees right outside the door would be a perfect getaway experience.

We were actually thinking of going back to my home country but the cost of airfare and accommodation is pretty expensive. We’ll just save up for it until my children are a bit older to appreciate the travel. For now out of state trips are perfect for us. It will definitely save us a lot financially, and at the same time give my children an experience of trying out new things in a totally new environment. It will be great for our family to bond together doing things that are new to all of us.

Typical for toddlers and little kids to have this fascination with telephone. My husband and I thought of having back our land line telephone or just get uniden phone but my dragonz will surely won't stop messing with it. We are using cellphones right now but we will see in the near future, we might get a phone.

Work from Home?

How I wish that sometimes my husband can work from home. I know that he is very dedicated to his job, and I understand why, because he needs to support us. But sometimes I see that it’s taking a toll on him and I feel sad when he tries his best to still spend time with the kids even if I know he’s dead tired from work.

Sometimes I’m thinking if it would be possible for him to just do his work from home and attend his meetings through a conference call online. I know a lot of people nowadays and I’m hoping that option will be available for my husband soon. This is just a wishful thinking. He has online class and even that, he needs to go to school to meet up with his online students. The only time he can relax is summer vacation and school break. However, he still considered his job as the best one compared to other job anywhere despite of the fact that he is so exhausted when he comes home from work.

My heart goes out to you

What happened in Japan can happen anywhere. I am thankful that all my family and friends all over the world were kept safe during the catastrophe. I pray that the families of those who passed away during the earthquake and tsunami find peace and strength from the rest of their families. The tsunami have killed too many lives and right now most people in the affected area are still searching for missing bodies of their family. Those who survive are still having problem with food supply, radiation and other stuff. I really hope and pray that all these misfortune will be over so people will find the peace of mind and able to relax.

I also hope that those who survived stay strong and move on. I know there may be those that survived but have suffered some form of disability. Hopefully they get the support, financially, emotionally and psychologically, that they deserve and if not, that they find those that can help with their disability appeal.

A Group of Mommies

Being in a group of other mommies definitely has an advantage. In that group, since it’s a private group by the way, we can talk about anything and everything. We’ve talked about women hygiene, married life, ways on how to make money from home, blogging tips and remedies for when our children are sick. Somehow it has been an avenue for me to express myself without being judged because all of us are in the same boat.

I wish men have this sort of group too. A place where they can discuss the good things about life, their marriage and children, you know, not just all about kinky stuff. Although at times they can talk about problems or situations about their manhood too, or extenze side effects, but I’m hoping for a more wholesome and meaningful group of men who primarily want what is best for their wife and children.

Traffic on Weekends

I am glad I was born and raise in the Philippines where I experienced all the hardship and difficulties in life and learned how to deal with it. Philippines is rich with natural resources but in terms of productivity we depend on foreign countries who have the resources to developed it. People there are very hard working to find ways and means to meet their ends. Anyway, traffic jam is inevitable in the Philippines due to the narrow roads and crowded streets. Although there are few places that have wider roads but still traffic is always a problem. Hence, drivers and passenger learn to deal with it as it is part of our lifestyle there. Despite of a long traffic on the street back in our place, you cannot hear swears and nasty words from drivers and passengers.

People here are expecting to see less traffic on the weekend. When things doesn't work the way they expect, be ready to hear swears that you haven't heard before. A long traffic last weekend due this (photo above) made the man on the front seat uttered unbelievable words in which he don't have supposed to say because there were toddlers in the back. The little man was secretly recording those words he heard and applied it today when he dropped something on the floor.

Cold weather doesn't mean bad fashion

Guest post written by Nancy Olsen

I have a huge puffy jacket like lots of other people, but the thing about mine is that it's strictly for skiing and playing out in the snow with my kids. I don't let myself wear it any other time because I have a pea coat that's way too cute to not wear. Plus, when i put on my pea coat, even if I just wear jeans and a T-shirt underneath, I feel like I look so chic and pulled together.

Plus, I also get lots of compliments on it from people whenever I wear it. But I wanted a cute new winter hat to go along with my coat and it's been so cold lately that I thought it would be good to do that anyway. While I was online looking at winter hats, I came across the website CLEARWIRELESSINTERNET.NET and decided to switch over my home internet service to the company.

Some cold weather fashion tips that I picked up online when I was looking through hats was that a quick way to wear a winter hat without doing your hair is to put your hair in a ponytail and tuck it into a knit hat. I'm going to use that trick a couple of times this season.

I have mentioned before in one or two of my blog post about our plans of buying a house in the country, getting phd, and sending our kids to a good school in SR. My husband and I love to raise our kids in the country and so, he thought about getting a PHd, not it degree though so he could get a job at the university where he graduated college. Most of the professor that are currently working at this college schools have degree in Phd. His mom also convinced him to go back to school. He checked online for schedules and other stuff. I asked him few days ago about this going back to school plan. He said that he just changed his plan. That change the plan too of finding a house in the country and everything. We will just try to find a cheaper house right around Pittsburgh area.

Balto the Hero

I took this photo in Central park New York. This dog had quite interesting story that made him a hero. I found the information below online.

Balto (1919 – 14 March 1933) was a Siberian Husky sled dog who led his team on the final leg of the 1925 serum run to Nome, in which deadly diphtheria epidemic would spread among the children of Nome. They needed to travel nearly a thousand miles to Anchorage to retrieve the only medicine to stop the outbreak existed. They travel to Alaska by train and then to Nome by dog sled to combat an outbreak of the disease. Balto became a national hero. Just 10 months after the successful mission, this statue by animal sculptor Frederick G. R. Roth was dedicated in Central Park. The sculpture depicts Balto surveying the distance, hind legs braced and a sled harness hanging from his back. The run is commemorated by the annual Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Balto was named after the Sami explorer Samuel Balto. Balto died at the age of 11.

In front of the statue a low-relief slate plaque depicts Balto's sled team, and bears the following inscription:

Dedicated to the indomitable spirit of the sled dogs that relayed antitoxin six hundred miles over rough ice, across treacherous waters, through Arctic blizzards from Nenana to the relief of stricken Nome in the Winter of 1925.
Endurance · Fidelity · Intelligence

Balto is a bronze statue with slate tablet over natural rock.

Camera Critters - Mr. Snob Tiger

We go to the zoo to see different critters that we don't usually see in person. Paid 11 bucks or any amount that the zoo keeper charges for each person upon entering the premises. Then, we get so excited because we get to see a lion, or tiger. Yet, it's very disappointing when you get there waiting for the tiger to wake up from its forever nap. I had to stretch, step on the stone or bench just to get a good snap at this bad boy.

Health Insurance

Has the weather been good to you or were you able to fight off the colds or the flu? Thankfully. my family and I have been spared from being sick for the past couple of months. But still I'm thankful that we all have health insurance.

I pity those that lost their medical insurance or those that don't seem to think it's important. During the times of need, they really have to shell out money out of their pockets every time they need to go to the ER of for check ups. Luckily though it's not one of those days that everyone goes paranoid because of a certain sickness like when the AH1N1 virus spread a couple of years back.

I still think however that everybody gets some kind of coverage even cheap health insurance for emergency cases. Sometimes it always pays to be prepared. We never know when a new strain of virus or disease attacks again.

Fancy Scrubs

Don't you think nurses are more accommodating nowadays? I mean with their colored and fancy scrubs, they seem to be eye candy to any kid who visits the doctor. Even the mens scrub uniforms are designed with cartoon characters or boys' toys like planes and trucks. I don't wonder why the have such charisma over children.

Sometimes I'm tempted to browse through a nursing uniforms catalog just to see the latest designs and then show it to my co-workers at the medical office I work at. Sometimes, on a slow day, we also look at scrub uniforms online so we can suggest ideas when we're due to change our scrubs.

Though I am not a nurse, I'm sure it will help pacify the children who come over to visit when they see that there are a lot of us wearing their favorite character or toy. Having us all wear fancy scrubs in the office can add a little distraction to the kids especially those that are coming in for their shots.

All Insurance Covered

One of things I asked my insurance agent when I bought my life insurance was Burial Insurance. I asked because after he explained about the claim process, he mentioned something about how many days or weeks it would take. In that span of time, my worry are the expenses to be incurred during the funeral and I do not want my family to worry about it while the life insurance payout is still being processed.

I went online and found MedicareSupplementalInsurance.com. It did not provide me information about funeral insurance for seniors but provided a lot of information about different medicare insurance plans. Plans are available to cover the gaps that Medicare Parts A and B do not cover. There are even plans that cover Skilled Nursing Facility Care coinsurance, Occupational therapy and at-home recovery. It is a must read for those who feel their current insurance is enough.

So now I'm assured that whether it is life, additional medical, or burial insurance, I have everything covered.

Nursing School and Online Shopping

I have a friend who was my room mate, co-teacher and closest friend back in the Philippines who came here in the US last 2008. We keep our communication open but we seldom talk over the phone because she is busy. She is back to school pursuing her nursing degree and at the same time working in Walmart. She did not finished her nursing degree in the Philippines because she shifted course to Education. Just like me, I have no plans of apply for teaching job here in the US. I know it's easy for her to find nurses uniforms when she will be done schooling because her sister in Chicago is also a nurse. But, I am still thinking of giving her a gift that she might find useful in the future.

Do you know that buying nursing uniforms and other medical related uniforms is not a problem anymore? Search it online and you see different results depending on the item or topic you search. Online have tons of different shopping store where you can find everything you need and yet hard to find in your nearest department store or mall. Online shopping is what most people does these days, it's more convenient and you can shop whatever you want at the comfort of your own personal computer.
