It's Chinese New Year and last Saturday the Filipino American Association in Pittsburgh FAAP Dance Troupe were invited and participated the Lunar New Year 2017 - Year of the Fire Rooster at Squirrel Hill. This was their 2nd annual celebration. My daughter just joined the dance troupe this year and she actually enjoyed dancing. These group of children danced one of the many Filipino Folk dances called Janggay.
They look adorable and cute in their costume. Other Filipino folk dances that were presented that day besides Janggay are Malong, Banga, and Salakot. Other Asian countries especially Chinese were also performed their very own Chinese dances and there was also the Thai dance and may more. Besides the stage performances, there was also a Demonstrations/ Arts and Crafts Marketplace and Traditional foods. We ended the fun event with a delicious dinner at the Everyday noodles. Next event would be Lunar New Year Parade. Gong Hay Fat Choy!
