The Best Facility For Pets While You're Away

When it's time to go on vacation or go out of town on a business trip, don't leave your pets at home. There are luxury pet hotels that offer everything from quality food to a television in each space for the pets to watch. There are some tips to keep in mind when you begin searching for a boarding facility or a hotel for your pet so that they receive the best care possible.

Before making any final decision, take a tour of the facility to meet the staff and see how the animals are treated. This will give you an idea as to what your pet can expect while sleeping, playing and eating. If you see that the hotel or boarding kennel is dirty or that the animals don't seem to be playful, then do some more research to find another location.

Talk to the staff about the daily routine of the animals. Find out when they are fed, if they are taken outside, how many animals are taken outside at one time and if you can view the animals on video from where you're going to be during the day. The pets at the facility should be able to get plenty of exercise and have other activities to keep them busy when they aren't outdoors. Check the amenities that are offered. Some larger hotels offer more in the way of amenities, like massages or special beds. Some facilities will bathe the animals and even paint the toenails.

Ask about how the staff works to keep the facility clean. This is important because you don't want your pet to come home with an illness that could have been prevented if the facility was kept as clean as it should. Find out about vaccination requirements as most locations require the minimal vaccinations before the animals can arrive at the facility. You also need to ask about pets that have not been spayed or neutered as some facilities keep those that have been fixed away from those that haven't been. Find out how many animals will be with each staff member as you don't want one worker to be overwhelmed with several animals that can't be monitored.
